Physical planning by municipalities for the future development and redevelopment of their communities has long been accepted as an important function of local government. Members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Municipal planning commissions review land use ordinances and regulations governing development of land. The Planning Commission also makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors regarding land development, subdivision and ordinance revisions.
