What will the new municipality be called?
Mars Township.
Will Mars Borough staff lose thier jobs?
No. All full-time employees will be offered positions with the Township.
Who will govern the new Township?
The current five Adams Township Board of Supervisors will serve as the governing body. Mars Township Residents will vote to fill an open supervisor seat in the 2027 primary and general elections, with that supervisor taking office in early 2028. An advisory board made up of Mars Borough officials will also serve during the transition period before and after the merger.
What is the ballot question residents will be asked to answer?
Shall the Borough of Mars, a Pennsylvania municipality organized under the borough Code, be merged into the Township of Adams, a Pennsylvania Township of the Second Class, and the Township being renamed Mars Township, a Pennsylvania Township of the Second Class, effective January 1, 2028?
