Public Hearing and Intent to Vote on Indoor/Outdoor Recreation Complexes
The Adams Township Board of Supervisors will hold a Public Hearing at 5:00 P.M. on February 23, 2026, at the Municipal Building, 690 Valencia Road, Mars, PA 16046. The purpose of the Public Hearing is to obtain testimony and public comment on enacting an Ordinance Amendment entitled “An Ordinance Amending the Zoning Ordinance of Adams Township to Allow for Indoor/Outdoor Recreation Complexes and Arena/Convention Center Within the Township.”
The Adams Township Board of Supervisors will vote on adopting the aforesaid Zoning Ordinance Amendment at their regular meeting at 7:00 P.M. on February 23, 2026, also held at the Municipal Building.
A Summary of Ordinance Amendments are as follows:
Section 1 – Purpose of the Ordinance is to allow for Indoor/Outdoor Recreation Complexes and Arena/Convention Centers within the Township.
Section 2 – Adds the following definitions to the Adams Township Zoning Ordinance: “Indoor/Outdoor Recreation Complex” and “Arena/Convention Center”.
Section 3 – Adds Indoor/Outdoor Recreation Complex as a conditional use in the Industrial Zoning District and the Route 228 Overlay Zoning District. (Note that the Indoor/Outdoor Recreation Complex has been removed from the Personal Services Overlay Zoning District as was set forth in the proposed Ordinance that was reviewed at the November 10, 2025, Public Hearing). Also adds Arena/Convention Center as a conditional use in the Industrial Zoning District and Route 228 Overlay Zoning District.
Section 4 – Adds that a traffic study must be conducted.
Section 5 – All inconsistent Ordinances and § 192-58(B)(3) of the Adams Township Zoning Ordinance are repealed.
Section 6 – Severability Clause.
Section 7 – Effective date is five days after enactment.
Copies of the full text of the Ordinance are available at the Adams Township Municipal Building, the Butler County Law Library (in the Butler County Courthouse) and at this newspaper and may be examined without charge or obtained for a charge no greater than the cost thereof.
